THE ULTIMATE PACKAGING SOLUTIONS FROM
A very familiar item in our kitchen is a glass container. Glass jars are steadily getting replaced with plastic jars. Let’s find out why you should never ditch glass. And we will also glean over its importance in the packaging industry and the need for Glass recycling. How is Glass better than Plastic? The glass is always a classier option to our cheap plastic containers. But some foods cannot be kept in any other storage material other than glass. Jams and pickles are a good example. Imagine a yummy strawberry jam packed in a cheap plastic jar. You would never want to open it. Environmentalists would speak of its non-biodegradable features but we have to learn how to dispose of glass and not ditch it wholly for the sake of plastic. Take a look at the areas where glass cannot be done away with:
Medicine Industry now, this is its forte which plastic can never snatch away. Medicine bottles have to be made with glass and we cannot get rid of it for any other alternative. Medicines need to be stored at very cold temperatures which are never possible to achieve in plastic. Perfumes the same counts in the perfumes industry. The chemical components in the perfume would react with the outside air leading to its decomposition. And it cannot be kept from evaporation if kept in any other lighter material. Chocolate and Confectionery Some liquid chocolates need to be kept in glass food storage containers or they will lose their taste. And chocolate makers can’t afford to substitute glass for the sake of environmental pollution and lose a big chunk of profits. Ice cream jars can never turn into plastic. Other confectioneries industries can never call it a day for glass containers. Pickles and Jams As said before, pickles and jams can hardly be imagined in plastic containers. Pickles would lose their taste and also get damp if put in plastic. Even they don’t stay so fresh in china. Jams would turn sour even if left without a lid. Imagine them kept in plastic. The only time you put it in a plastic bag is for throwing it in the trash. Soaps The soap industry lives on glass. Soaps have a lot of glass in their composition and cannot be processed without the use of glass. So, even if environmentalists win their fight against “poor old glass”, it would never vanish wholly from our daily lives. The Big and Small of Glass Jars Glass bottles come in various shapes and sizes. We love looking at them in a crockery shop and are spoilt for choice. The big jars are good for storing some nice chocolate candies. The smaller ones can hold pickles and jams. Glass Recycling Glass recycling is a subject which is of late being considered in many manufacturing industries and is also being put in practice. Glass powdering is done as glass cannot be decomposed by soil or any other agent.
